My friend, Ruth Old, lived for many years in Bakersfield, California. Bakersfield is, in addition to being known for its country music scene, a singular location for alpine wildflowers. Particularly, the California Poppy figures greatly on the hillsides around Bakersfield.
Now in Enderby, Ruth needed a place to keep some of her small items- so I made this box for her. Featuring a close up of the luminous California Poppy, the picture is made with watercolors. The pine box is painted with acrylics, and lined with satin.

A nice little reminder of California for my friend!
